INTERNET SAFETY TIPS
These guidelines are designed to help protect you and your family. The Internet is increasingly an important aspect of our daily lives. We use the Internet to reach out to friends, relatives and business associates, and use the Internet for personal enjoyment and the promotion of our businesses. We want to ensure that new users of the Internet are well informed on appropriate safety rules. While the Internet provides much in the way of needed tools and services it also has become more and more risky, and even dangerous to use, particularly to minors.
Here are some important guidelines that your family can use to help reduce the risks of harm from the Internet.
- Never reveal your password to anyone.
- Always supervise your minor children while they use the Internet.
- You should never meet someone you have met on the Internet unless you are in a populated public area and if you are a minor you should also be under the supervision of your parent or legal guardian.
- Minor children should never send photos of themselves or their family members to strangers they have met on the Internet.
- Minor children should never reveal their full names, addresses, or phone numbers to strangers they have met on the Internet.
- Never open email attachments sent to you from unknown parties.
- Always have an anti-virus software program installed and up to date on your computer.
- Always use an anti-spyware program and an anti-adware program on a daily basis. Keep all such programs up to date.
